Abstract: Ocean Networks Canada is a not-for-profit society that operates and manages innovative cabled observatories on behalf of the University of Victoria that supply continuous power and Internet connectivity to various scientific instruments located in coastal, deep-ocean, and Arctic environments. Carbon Dioxide data are collected by Aanderaa Optode 4797 pCO2 (S/N 33) (deviceid=22670) from a fixed benthic node (as defined in NERC 2.0 Collection L06 Version 13) located at Cambridge Bay in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. The Aanderra Optode pCO2 is an in situ submersible pCO2 sensor designed for measurement of partial pressure of CO2 gas dissolved in water through rapid diffusion of dissolved gases from liquids through a semi-permeable foil. When CO2 diffuses into a gas permeable foil the pH in an embedded buffer will change, subsequently changing the fluorescence of the pH sensitive indicator. The Optode uses a reference fluorescence indicator, whose fluorescence excitation and emission spectra overlap significantly with the pH sensitive indicator, but whose fluorescence intensity is independent of pH. When comparing two fluorescence indicators based on the Dual Lifetime Reference (DLR) approach, the partial pressure of CO2 can be calculated.. For more information on the device see
